  • Lifting operations. Where stillages are lifted by crane or forklift, the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) apply. Certified lifting stillages should carry a clear safe working load and be thorough-examined, so everyone in the chain can lift them with confidence.
  • Work equipment. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) cover the equipment being suitable, maintained and safe to use throughout its working life — including during loading, transport and unloading.

  • Coordinated lead times and scheduling. Aligning manufacturing and delivery with your production plan avoids the twin problems of stillages arriving before you can use them or a line stopping because they have not.
  • A workable return loop. Foldable and nestable designs, clear labelling and agreed collection points keep empties cycling back into use instead of piling up.
