UKCA, LOLER and PUWER

- LOLER 1998 (the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) applies wherever a stillage is designed to be lifted, for example with integral lifting eyes or fork pockets used for hoisting. It governs how lifting equipment is selected, marked and thoroughly examined.
- PUWER 1998 (the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) covers work equipment more broadly, requiring it to be suitable, maintained and safe for its intended use.
Getting these right at the design stage, with the correct rating, marking and, where needed, certification and test evidence, protects your people and keeps you the right side of the regulations. It is far easier to engineer compliance into a bespoke stillage than to retrofit it to a stock unit that was never intended for the task.
